The Singapore Volunteers Corp, the precursor to the Singapore Armed Forces, had its humble beginnings in 1854, tasked with providing security during a burgeoning time in Singapore’s history.

Later, Beach Road Camp would become the headquarters of the SVC and today there is a monument to commemorate its members who gave their lives during the Second World War. (More About Beach Road Camp and The Singapore Volunteer Corp)

South Beach has revitalized these old military buildings and artfully incorporated them.
